Telehealth Informed Consent

Telehealth Informed Consent

DRAFT — Pending Attorney Review. This informed consent document must be reviewed by qualified counsel familiar with telehealth practice acts in every state where ReddyDoc operates. Each state has its own required consent elements; some require in-state-specific language.

Last updated: July 4, 2026 · Effective date: [pending attorney sign-off]

What telehealth is

Telehealth is the delivery of healthcare services by a licensed clinician using electronic communication when the clinician and the patient are in separate locations. On ReddyDoc, most consultations are asynchronous: you complete a written questionnaire, a clinician reviews it later, and a decision is communicated to you through the platform. In some cases, a clinician may request a real-time video consultation.

Benefits of telehealth

  • Access to care from home, at your convenience.
  • Fast turnaround on common conditions.
  • No in-person waiting room exposure.
  • Documented, portable records you can access anytime through your account.

Limitations and risks of telehealth

By using telehealth, you understand and accept the following:

  • No physical examination: an asynchronous telehealth consultation cannot substitute for a comprehensive in-person physical examination. Some conditions require hands-on evaluation, imaging, or laboratory tests that cannot be conducted through this platform.
  • Limited information: the clinician’s decision is based on the information you provide. Incomplete or inaccurate information can lead to an incorrect assessment.
  • Technology limitations: internet outages, device failures, or platform issues may delay your care.
  • Privacy risks: no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure. We use HIPAA-compliant safeguards, but you should protect your own account credentials and avoid using shared devices.
  • Prescription discretion: our clinicians may decline to prescribe if they believe treatment is not appropriate.
  • Not for emergencies: telehealth is not for emergency medical situations. If you are having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Alternatives to telehealth

You always have the right to see a clinician in person instead of using telehealth. You may also choose to see your primary care provider, visit an urgent care center, or seek any other healthcare service available to you. Choosing telehealth for one visit does not commit you to using telehealth in the future.

Your rights

  • Right to information: to know the identity, license, and credentials of your treating clinician.
  • Right to refuse or withdraw consent: at any time, without affecting your right to future care.
  • Right to a copy of your records: at any time, through your account or by request to privacy@reddydoc.com.
  • Right to a second opinion: from a clinician of your choice.
  • Right to communicate with your care team: through the secure messaging feature in your ReddyDoc account.

Licensure

Our clinicians are licensed in specific U.S. states. You must be physically located in a state where our clinician is licensed at the time of consultation. If you are not, we will decline to treat and refund your payment. A current list of covered states will be maintained at reddydoc.com/states-served.

Prescriptions

  • All prescriptions are written by a licensed clinician using electronic prescribing (eRx) to a partner pharmacy.
  • The pharmacy fulfills the prescription and ships it to the address you provide.
  • Standard shipping is included; expedited shipping may be available at additional cost.
  • Refills, when clinically appropriate, may be scheduled automatically.
  • Controlled substances: ReddyDoc does not prescribe DEA-controlled substances (Schedule II–V) except where required by state law and expressly permitted by our clinical policies.

Emergency situations

If you are experiencing chest pain, difficulty breathing, thoughts of self-harm, or any other medical emergency, do NOT use ReddyDoc. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. For mental health crisis support, call or text 988.
